THE eldest son of celebrity chef Rachel Allen was arrested for alleged drug-driving this week, the Irish Sun on Sunday can reveal.
Joshua Allen, 19, is currently on temporary release from Cork Prison after serving part of a 15-month sentence for drug dealing and possession.
But he was stopped by Gardai at a checkpoint near Midleton, Co Cork, earlier this week.
He was tested for drink or drug driving, as were many other motorists stopped at the checkpoint.
That test has proved positive for the presence of drugs in his system.
He was arrested in accordance with protocol and taken to Midleton Garda Station where he was processed and later released without charge.
A file on the matter will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution and it is expected a summons will be served on the 19-year-old later this year with an expected court appearance possible in early 2021.
FILE TO DPP
A source said last night: “Joshua Allen was just one of many motorists stopped at a mandatory checkpoint conducting drink and drug driving checks.
“He was given the usual tests and passed the drink-driving one and was not drunk or showing any signs of having taken alcohol.
“But the drugs test showed that he had drugs in his system and he was arrested for alleged drug-driving.
“He was taken from his car and brought to the local Garda where he was processed and later released.
“A file will be sent to the DPP who will determine if he has a case to answer.
“If he is convicted then he faces the real possibility of having his suspended sentence reactivated and he will serve that together with any other sentence the court may see fit to impose.”
This is the second time the teen has come to the attention of Gardai in connection with drugs offences since his release.
Last month, he was stopped by Gardai and found to be in possession of a small quantity of drugs believed to be for personal use.
