Probe into ‘leaked’ Pulse arrest photos of teenager

A high-level internal Garda probe is under way into how classified arrest photographs of a teenager charged with making threats to kill were “leaked” from the Garda intelligence system and later appeared on a news website.
The investigation, led by officers at the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI), is investigating how the news site came into possession of the photographs. Sources have told the Sunday Independent that the investigation is being taken “extremely seriously” given the “particular circumstances” of the suspect and “sensitivities” around the case.
The photographs of 18-year-old Barbie Kardashian, who was born male but identifies as female, remained online this weekend. The news website which has published the photos openly states the photos are “taken from the Garda Pulse” and claimed it chose to publish them “in the public interest”.
