Gardai seize €65,000 worth of suspected drugs and €7,500 in cash

Gardai have seized roughly €65,000 worth of suspected drugs along with €7,500 in cash.

Along with the cash and suspected drugs three phones were seized from the discovery.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: ‘€60,000 of suspected cannabis & €5,000 of suspected cocaine was seized following a search of a residence in Sandycove, County Dublin, on Saturday.

The €7,500 is just a small fraction of what Gardai discovered at the start of October.

Earlier in October, Gardai seized an estimated €4,000,000 in cash in the during searches carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

Searches of two premises, in Kerry and Laois, led to the location of the cash along with two vehicles.

A statement from the Gardai said ‘On Wednesday September 20, 2020, personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) undertook searches of two premises, one located in Co Laois and the other in Co Kerry, in the course of targeting the suspected criminal activities of a particular organised crime group, believed to be involved in drug trafficking at an international level.

In the course of the two searches, investigating members located and seized a quantity of cash estimated to total €4,000,000 (subject to completion of counting) along with three motor vehicles.

A male, 46-years-old, was arrested on suspicion of having committed an organised crime related offence and is currently detained at Tralee Garda Station, pursuant to organised crime-related legislation.’
