Judges seeking promotion to the Supreme Court wrote their expressions of interest to Séamus Woulfe when he was attorney general.
Mr Woulfe was controversially appointed to the State’s highest court in June despite three sitting judges expressing an interest in the position.
The Government has confirmed that expressions of interest for court vacancies are sent to the Attorney General’s office on an ongoing basis and are then passed to the Department of Justice.
