Man (35) charged over €100,000 cash seizure

A Dublin man has been charged with money laundering after gardaí seized more than €100,000 in cash at his home.

Vincent Kelly (35) was granted bail and had the case against him adjourned when he appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday.

Mr Kelly is charged with possession of the proceeds of crime – €108,670 – at Dundaniel Road, Kilmore, Dublin 5, on Saturday, January 16.

Detective Garda Gavin O’Gara, of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, told Judge Treasa Kelly he arrested the accused for the purpose of charge at Coolock garda station on Sunday.

He was charged at 5.10pm and he made no reply after caution.

Mr Kelly was handed a copy of the charge sheet. Det Gda O’Gara said he had no objection to bail subject to “strict conditions”.

The judge granted bail in the accused’s own bond of €200, with no cash lodgment required.

The accused nodded as the judge read out the bail conditions to him. He was remanded on bail to appear in court again on a date in April.

Mr Kelly has not yet indicated how he intends to plead to the charge.
