Garda negotiator called after ‘distressed’ man barricades himself in house with firearm

At 6.30am on Monday morning, Gardai in Carlow received a 999 call from a man in a distressed state, claiming he had a firearm in his home.

A Garda negotiator liaised with the man who had made the phone call, and a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana confirmed that the incident was resolved shortly after 9.30am.
No firearm was located at the property, and no injuries connected to the incident have been reported.
Gardai are not providing further information on this incident at the present time.
