Tributes paid to ‘talented young footballer’ who died in Dublin stabbing

The 16-year-old passed away in the nearby Mater Hospital after suffering fatal injuries in East Wall in the north inner-city on Tuesday night.

The League of Ireland Premier Division side paid tribute to Dunne and described him as a ‘talented young footballer’ in a statement.
‘Everyone at Bohemians is devastated to learn of the death of Bohs-SKB player Josh Dunne in tragic circumstances’, the Phibsborough club said.
‘Josh was a talented young footballer who will be sadly missed by former team-mates and coaches. St Kevin’s Boys also released a statement, saying: ‘It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the sudden and untimely death of one of our players Josh Dunne last night.
‘On speaking to Josh’s managers Mark, Gerry, Peter and all the lads from his team they are all devastated to hear the sad news.’
