Four members of one family die from COVID after single Christmas Day meet up

One family in Derby, England has been left devastated after four members have died as a result of COVID-19 after meeting up for Christmas Day.

The family had been isolating for ten months before Christmas in the hopes of spending the holidays together when the Government allowed for households to meet.

Darren Fisher, his parents Pat and David, and his Uncle Michael Wilson all tested positive with COVID, with a number of other relatives still fighting the disease.a close up of a computer: One family in Derby, England has been left devastated after four members have died as a result of COVID-19 after meeting up for Christmas Day. Tracy Latham, who had been engaged to Darren, has been left heartbroken following the tragic death of her fiance and his family.

She and Darren had planned to be married this July after being together for an impressive 12 years.

Tracy recalled how her late partner had caught coronavirus after spending just two hours in his parent’s house on Christmas Day.Darren Fisher, his parents Pat and David, and his Uncle Michael Wilson all tested positive with COVID, with a number of other relatives still fighting the disease. Of the four family members who tragically passed away, Darren’s mother Pat was the only person with an underlying health condition, having suffered from diabetes.

‘We don’t really know who passed it on. Nobody was ill — Mick had a bit of a tickle, but that was all.’ Tracy told The Sun.

‘Darren’s mum said “we’ve got my brother coming over” as they had all been shielding. So they spent the day together — Pat and David, and Michael and his partner Gladis.

It was December 29 when Tracy’s partner Darren was sent to the hospital in an ambulance after displaying symptoms of the virus. Not long after that, he was put on a ventilator.

Tracy recalled: ‘I told him to get himself right, and those were the last words I said to him.’

Reflecting on the tragic few weeks, Tracy said: ‘I wish that Boris had said nobody could visit each other at Christmas. We are just all shocked and devastated. Please, you really need to take this seriously.

‘Darren’s mum and dad shielded for nearly a year and thought they were

safe and well. It shows it can happen to anybody in the blink of an eye.’
