Video footage and images have circulated online in the aftermath of the shooting with the Gardai asking the public not to share the material out of respect for his family.

The victim lived with his mother and his ten-year-old son in Belclare Gardens.

It has been reported that he was known to Gardai for minor crimes, however, he was not a member of a gang and some believe the shooting may have related to a personal feud.a person standing in front of a tent: The scene is still being preserved with a technical examination to be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau. Local TD Paul McAuliffe said that he fears retaliation attacks may occur as a result of the shocking killing.

‘In the past, disputes like this have caused other – sometimes very quick – responses and I hope that doesn’t happen in this case.’

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward and are appealing to anyone who was in the Belclare Terrace and Belclare Park areas between 8pm and 9.15pm yesterday evening to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to those with camera footage from area at the time of the incident (including dash-cam and mobile phone footage) to make it available to them. The scene is still being preserved with a technical examination to be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.
