Third man found dead in river after two brothers’ bodies found on rural farm

Gardai confirmed on Friday afternoon that the man had been discovered dead in the river which is located in a remote location in Killacluig, Mitchelstown.

The discovery of the third man’s body came as Gardai searched for a third brother believed to have been driving a red Toyota Corolla Carvan after the deaths of the two brothers at their family farm in Curragorm, Mitchelstown.a group of people in uniform: A third man was found dead in a river during searches which were connnected to the discovery the bodies of two brothers on a Cork farm. The van was found parked at an unconnected farmhouse at Killacluig and it has since been removed from the scene for technical examination.

During the search for the third brother in an area near where the van was found, a man’s body was located.

Gardai said the officers were called to the scene of the incident in which the two brothers, both aged in their 60s, died shortly before midnight on Thursday.

A Garda spokesperson said: ‘Local Uniform and Plain Clothes Gardaí attended the scene supported by Armed Support Units. A male in his 60s was discovered deceased in the farmyard.

‘Following a further search the body of a second male in his 60s was also discovered in a shed on the farmyard. ‘Gardaí commenced a search for a 3rd male, also related, believed to be driving a Red Toyota Corolla Carvan, 03 WW 1556.

‘This car was subsequently found by Gardaí parked at an unconnected farmhouse at Killacluig, Mitchelstown. This car has been removed from the scene for a technical examination.

‘An Garda Síochána have discovered the body of male in a river in a remote location nearby. Investigations are ongoing at this time to recover and identify this body.

‘The bodies of the two males remain at the scene. Dr. Margot Bolster, Locum Assistant State Pathologist will attend the scene and post mortems will be carried out at Cork University Hospital later.
