More men have come forward to Gardai alleging that they had been abused by jailed Terenure College rugby coach John McClean.

Mr McClean was sentenced to eight years in prison for the sexual abuse of 23 students at Terenure College over the course of 17 years.

The 76-year-old, who was reportedly moved from Midlands Prison to Arbour Hill Prison, had been described by victims as ‘evil personified’.a man wearing a hat: More men have come forward to Gardai alleging that they had been abused by jailed Terenure College rugby coach John McClean. According to The Irish Mirror, one of the 30 new complainants felt ‘great relief’ after giving the Gardai a formal statement this week.

‘It was a great relief to get off my chest and the guards were very kind and understanding during the interview.

The man alleged that Mr McClean had locked him in his office when he was just 13-years-old and sexually abused him.

He is one of many victims who have come forward since Mr McClean was jailed in February.

This comes following reports that at least 28 men who had come forward are planning to take civil cases against the former rugby coach for alleged abuse.a man wearing a suit and tie: The 76-year-old, who was reportedly moved from Midlands Prison to Arbour Hill Prison, had been described by victims as ‘evil personified’. John McClean pleaded guilty to 27 charges of indecently assaulting his young pupils between 1973 and 1990.

McClean left the school in 1996 when allegations began to surfaced, and soon began working as a rugby coach in UCD.

The accused had denied all offences when he was interviewed by gardai, and three trial dates were fixed before he finally pleaded guilty in November 2020.
