Encapsulating the current housing crisis in one photo, around 35 couples and house sharers took up the pavement in order to have a look at a house in Crumlin.

Editor of Four/Four Magazine Sam Greenwood shared the grim photo to Twitter as he waited in line beside them.Dozens of people were snapped lining up in the hot weather to view one home in Dublin in what perfectly summarises the housing crisis. ‘Trying to find a rental in Dublin and in a queue of at least 35+ couples and house sharers,’ he tweeted.

‘This is the reality.

There was well-founded outcry in the comments as many shared their own house-hunting horrors.

One person wrote: ‘Yuup, had too many of these days over five years in Dublin. Enough was enough and moved away from the damn place purely because of housing.’

Someone else said: ‘I had to do that in 2014. This isn’t a new phenomenon. Years of constant neglect and mismanagement of housing by successive governments. Tragic really.’a sign in front of a brick building: Someone else said: ‘I had to do that in 2014. This isn’t a new phenomenon. Another said: ‘Dublin and housing is just utterly mental ain’t it, feel for my friends there.’

One other person also went Shakespearian in their takedown of renting in Dublin.

‘Hope you had your deposit, CV and pound of flesh handy on you.’
