Almost 25 years after her body was found brutally murdered in West Cork, the lead suspect in the Sophie Toscan du Plantier case will make his TV appearance.

This past summer saw the release of two documentary series, one on Netflix and one via Sky, circling around the mysterious case of French holidaymaker Sophie Toscan du Plantier. Now, the lead suspect in the case Ian Bailey will face an in-depth interview on national television.

The French filmmaker was murdered at her home in West Cork in December 1996, and since then, the case has remained in the public consciousness. Bailey constantly remains at the centre of the case.

On Monday night, Virgin Media News Anchor Colette Fitzpatrick will sit down with Ian Bailey for ‘The Big Interview’.

The former journalist says the case has consumed a quarter-century of his life and has led to some “really really, low dark periods”.

Sophie’s son Pierre Louis Baudey-Vignaud recently appeared on ‘The Late Late Show’ on RTÉ One, where he stated: “You have a murderer living in Ireland.”https

During his forthcoming interview, Bailey said he is “deeply sad” and believes this statement from Sophie’s son was directed at him. He offers his own theory about who was responsible for the French woman’s death.

During the Ian Bailey interview, he also says that he hasn’t watched the recent Netflix documentary, but has seen two episodes of Jim Sheridan’s programme.

Here’s the teaser for the Ian Bailey

‘Ian Bailey: The Big Interview’ airs on Monday, September 13 at 9 pm on Virgin Media One.
