Griffith Wood in North Dublin City is offering 300 brand-new apartments for rent and has been advertised as ‘the ideal city home’ and ‘pet friendly’.

None of the swanky new apartments will be up for sale with American developer Greystar renting them out at lavish prices, starting from €1,900.a cat that is lying down and looking at the camera: A new rental development located in the sought-for area of Griffith Avenue is charging renters €75 a month per pet. Liveline caller Roy Ferris went to view a two-bedroom apartment over the weekend and was floored when he was told he would have to ‘pay rent for his pets’.

He wondered with host Joe Duffy if a goldfish owner would also be hit with the charge.

Due to the pet rental charge, Roy and his partner abandoned the idea of moving into the luxurious new apartment block.

‘I would not pay €150 rent for my cats,’ he told RTÉ Liveline.
