What is New here? We know for years, Warders drink at lunch break Daily – they say their “Nerves”. Recall people telling me about Cork Jail years ago, and that there was a Serious Drink Problem among the Shit Alcoholic Warders; then at night the same Warders Harrassed the Prisoners for a Laugh. Stutter knows all this, but now, the Jail, has become more Humane, we think??? Gangland now run the Jails, so we can assume that the Warders live and work in Fear. How times Change???

A major investigation has been launched after a prison officer fell down a flight of stairs and was allegedly ‘intoxicated’ while escorting a prisoner in hospital.

The Irish Mirror has learned that Irish Prison Service bosses have launched a probe into the allegation — after the officer fell down stairs while on duty in a hospital in recent days.

The prison officer was working alongside a colleague, who is not under investigation, and was at the hospital with a prisoner who needed medical treatment, sources say.

It has since been alleged to authorities that the prison officer was “intoxicated” on the job — after he fell down the stairs.

The prison officer was transferred to A&E and was treated for his injuries following the incident.

Sources say the incident is being treated extremely seriously by prison authorities and a huge investigation has been launched.

In a statement to our sister title the Irish Daily Star, the Irish Prison Service officially confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

“The Irish Prison Service sets high standards in respect of its staff and requires that all staff carry out their duties with integrity, commitment and professionalism at all times,” it said.

“In circumstances where the conduct of a staff member falls below the high standards expected, this is treated with the utmost seriousness in accordance with the Civil Service Code of Discipline.

“The Irish Prison Service is aware of an alleged incident at the hospital and has commenced an external investigation into the matter.”

The allegation comes a month on from a separate incident in which three prison officers who were tasked with escorting one of Ireland’s most serious gangland criminals, allegedly went on a drinking session while on duty.
