The care home boss said she felt terrible about letting the staff members go due to the financial impact it will likely have on their lives.

Speaking to ITV, she became emotional as she said: ‘This home is like a family, we’re all very, very close to each other.

‘I’ve had to put people into possible poverty because I’ve had to take their jobs away from them.’Theresa Ingram-Gettins, who manages Boldmere Court care home in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham broke down after she was forced to let six staff members go over new rules in UK about banning people who aren’t fully vaccinated from working in care settings. The new rule for care home staff in the UK is likely to have a huge impact on the industry as NHS records noted that thousands still had not been double jabbed.

Figures note that four days before the deadline for the new rule, more than 56,000 care home staff members weren’t fully vaccinated.

On the other side of the situation, running the care home is also a struggle since the new mandatory vaccination status for staff was announced.Ms Ingram-Gettins also had to suspend six other members of staff members in relation to the rules. Ms Ingram-Gettins added: ‘People are doing extra shifts. We’re tired. We’ve gone through pandemic.

‘We’re not having holidays, we’re not having days off, we’re just worn out and Boris is not helping us with this.’
