The posters are all over bus shelters across Dublin Bay South, from Sandymount to Terenure. They are promoting Jim O’Callaghan — or Jim, as the logo of his name on the left-hand side emphasises in large font. There is a small, barely visible mention of Fianna Fáil in the top right-hand corner. “Worried,” texted one Fianna Fáil operative recently with a picture of one of these bus shelters.
It is an easy assumption to make given O’Callaghan, as director of elections, was in part responsible for one of Fianna Fáil’s worst-ever by-election results in his own constituency last July.
