After the Buffalo shooting: gun violence and US polarization

National press coverage of mass shootings is about the politics, not the victims, says Eurasia Group’s lead US political analyst Jon Lieber. Responding to coverage of Sunday’s shooting in Buffalo, where 10 people were killed in a supermarket, Lieber says gun violence has become so common in the US that the shootings that generate national news headlines tend to be those that can be most easily politicized.
