Ian Bailey is reportedly set to turn his hand to documentary making.

The man who was the former chief suspect in the murder of Sophie Tuscan du Plantier is set to create a documentary and podcast about the infamous killing.

Light was shed once more on the 1996 murder of the French film producer in West Cork in recent months following two big-budget documentaries.

Netflix and Sky were on hand to mark the 25th anniversary of Sophie’s tragic death, with the case remaining unsolved to this day.

According to The Independent, Ian Bailey felt like a ‘commodity’ after the documentaries hit the small screens.

He went on to say that he ‘felt used and abused’ by Netflix but was much more complimentary towards Jim Sheridan’s Sky series.

Ian Bailey claimed he is due to begin production on his own podcast and documentary series called, Ian Bailey: In His Own Words within weeks.

He explained that he would be creating six episodes of his podcast each episode coming in at a hefty two-hour mark. He added that he is filming a documentary simultaneously with the help of a West Cork filmmaker.

Bizarrely, he claimed that the first episode will feature scenes of him in the dock in a courtroom in a ‘mock-trial scenario’.

The former journalist was twice arrested by Gardaí but never charged over Sophie du Plantier’s murder in Ireland.

The State has refused three French attempts to extradite him but magistrates nonetheless convicted him in absentia in Paris in 2019.

Ian Bailey has repeatedly denied that he had anything to do with the French woman’s brutal murder. In fact, he has said he would welcome a renewed Garda probe.

Gardaí have not officially announced whether or not a full cold case review into the murder has been begun.
