Gardai are on high alert with fears Mr Flashy will wage war across the capital as the thug looks to join forces with other factions in a bid to wipe out his rivals.

The Irish Mirror can reveal the Finglas thug is cowering with a Dublin mob gang after coming within inches of being whacked on Monday. And detectives are now bracing themselves for a revenge attack from his self-proclaimed “Gucci Gang” against slain James Whelan’s associates as a result.

Gardai believe Flashy is actively looking for backing from city-based gangs, leading to fears that the violence will spiral beyond Finglas. So far in this feud, Flashy has leaned on younger men in their late teens to early 20s to wage his war in Dublin’s northwest area with many of his dangerous muscle men, including crazed Scott Capper, being behind bars.

A source said: “It’s the closest Flashy has ever been to death so there’s no doubt there will be a response from his side. But the big concern now is how far he will go, he has links to other gangs in the city and he is trying to get backing from them. That would be a very serious development.”

Flashy was in a taxi with his close associate on Monday afternoon travelling on the Tolka Valley Road in south Finglas which came under fire. He escaped by running through a nearby green area while his ally – who is being blamed for killing Whelan in Finglas on April 3 – also fled.

Following the botched hit, two associates of dead Whelan were lifted on foot in Glasnevin cemetery. The pair, one aged in his 20s and the other in his 30s, are from Ballymun and the Tallaght area and are well-known to gardai.

On Tuesday, detectives were continuing to quiz the pair at Blanchardstown Garda Station. We understand a van involved in the attack has also been seized, along with the taxi which came under fire, both of which are being examined.

The feud has seen over 80 attacks so far including a number of beatings, shootings, a grenade attack and the murder of Whelan. Gardai have carried out successful operations against the men involved which has curbed violence at times but the determined criminals continue to plot attacks. And it has seen innocent people targeted on both sides.
