He was part of a three-man hit team from north Dublin tasked with targeting innocent members of the Hutch family.

Our revelations come after an inquest into Eddie’s murder on February 8, 2016, was adjourned for a year yesterday.

A source told The Irish Sun: “This individual was one of the cartel’s most dangerous killers.

“He’s the number one suspect in the murder of Eddie Hutch.”

The Dublin District Coroner’s Court heard the probe into the killing of crime boss Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch’s brother is proving “long and complex”.

But Det Insp Aidan Flanagan said the Garda inquiry into the fatal shooting of taxi driver Eddie, 58, was still ongoing.

Dad-of-five Eddie was blasted dead after being approached by several gunmen as he pulled up in his cab outside his home in Ballybough, north Dublin.

The inquest previously heard he died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head.

He was killed just three days after members of the Hutch gang killed Kinahan gangster David Byrne during a boxing weigh-in at the Regency Hotel.

Byrne’s death led to all-out war as the Kinahans targeted relatives and associates of The Monk, who they believe planned the Regency attack.

Det Insp Flanagan applied for a further 12-month adjournment as criminal proceedings are still being considered in the case.

Coroner Dr Clare Keane OK’d the request and adjourned the case until September 7, 2023.
