The pub compared the stout to the type of drink that might be served up at last orders in the much missed Level 4 nightclub in Tallaght

A Dublin pub has slammed the stout brewed in Conor McGregor’s bar, branding it “pure muck”.

The UFC star brews Forged Irish Stout, which is sold at his Black Forge Inn in Crumlin. The Notorious recently bragged about the quality of the drink on social media, calling it sheer smoothness.

But Liberties watering hole Peadar Browns were less than impressed by the fighter’s efforts, comparing it to the type of drink that might be served up at last orders in the much missed Level 4 nightclub in Tallaght.

McGregor posted a picture of the stout, bragging: “You will not get another stout anywhere near the quality of my own @forgedirishstout! That cream! That roast! The sheer smoothness! Just take a look! Incredible!”

Peader Browns shared the post and were scathing in their assessment. The pub wrote on Facebook: “Looks like something you’d get at last orders in level 4 back in the day, pure muck.”

Despite that withering put down, the Black Forge has garnered a number of positive reviews after McGregor pump millions into a major refurbishment of the boozer.

Well-known Guinness reviewer, the Guinness Guru, who regularly reviews pints of the black stuff, went to the pub and gave a fairly positive rating to McGregor’s stout. “I went to Conor McGregor’s new pub the Black Forge Inn to try out his brand new stout, Black Forge Stout,” he said in a video posted about his visit.

“They were very honest, they said it tastes nothing like stout, but you should get coffee, chocolate and vanilla [notes]. Also people have said it takes like Beamish.”

He then took a sip of the pint, predicting that he probably wouldn’t like it, but he actually found it quite “decent”.

His initial reaction was that it’s better than Island’s Edge, a recently released stout produced by Heineken.

“It’s alright, it tastes like Guinness but much more of a roasted flavour, but it’s decent,” the Guinness Guru said on TikTok.

“It’s creamy, there’s some ‘shtick’ on it as well, it’s not exactly my cup of tea but I’m just so used to drinking Guinness.

“I don’t know, it feels weird, I can’t give it a Guinness score. The likelihood to drink it again out of ten is 6.9 or 7.”
