Dublin man faces trial over alleged threat to set woman’s house on fire – 6h ago

A YOUNG man accused of making a threat to set fire to a woman’s house has been sent for jury trial.

Jake Casey (25) was served with the book of evidence when he appeared on bail before Swords District Court.

The accused, of Minister’s Park in Lusk, is charged with making a threat to cause criminal damage to a property at Remount in Lusk on March 6 this year. It is alleged he told the householder that he would set her home on fire.

He is further accused of burglary, in which he damaged a wall by ripping a picture frame off it, causing damage to a front door, and assaulting the woman, all at the same time and location.

State solicitor Mairead White said the book of evidence was ready and had been served on the accused, who goes forward to the next sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge John Brennan gave the accused the formal alibi caution. The judge also assigned defence solicitor Michael Finucane and one junior counsel on free legal aid.

Mr Casey has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.

He was remanded on bail in his own bond of €300 to appear before a court at the Criminal Courts of Justice in October.
