THIS is the secret hideout a new drugs gang were using to store €681,000 worth of drugs and motorbikes.
Our exclusive image shows the lock up at Saville Terrace in the north inner city that a three man gang were using to run a drug dealing network in the capital.
Gardai believe the suspects – aged 23, 24 and 25 – have been operating in the north inner city area of Dublin for over a year.
The trio – who aren’t connected to any major crime gang – specialise in selling cocaine and cannabis herb to users and addicts on their home turf.
But their network was smashed when officers from the Community Policing Unit and the North Central Divisional Drugs Unit under ‘Operation Canter’ and ‘Operation Tara’ swooped on their hideout in Saville Terrace on Wednesday afternoon.
Inside the garage, officers recovered cannabis herb worth €652,000, €25,000 worth of cannabis resin and €4,000 worth of cocaine.
Officers also recovered twelve scramblers, three electric scooters and two speed boats during the raid.
Investigators are trying to establish if the items were stolen or bought through the proceeds of their drug dealing operation.
Gardai believe the trio rented the garage from the unsuspecting owner by claiming they were storing motorbikes.
The Irish Sun can also reveal the weed recovered by gardai was being prepared for sale as it was still drying.
Investigators suspect the weed came from a grow house connected to the gang.
One source said: “These individuals have been doing their own thing for over a year and aren’t affiliated to any organised crime gang.
“They are just a number of targets who have been identified in the north inner city for their involvement in drugs and anti-social behaviour.
“Investigations like this are aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents.”
‘TERRORISING LOCAL RESIDENTS’
Although the suspects are linked to the drugs trade, they are also suspected of involvement in terrorising local residents by driving scramblers in the early hours of the morning.
One local told us: “These three guys are well known in the north inner city and they have been terrorising local residents for a long time.
“If they’re not selling drugs they’re driving scramblers at all hours of the morning.
“They’re engaged in a lot of anti-social behaviour and the garda operation against them will be welcomed by many residents.”
The suspects can be held for seven days and are being questioned on suspicion of drug trafficking.
