A WAREHOUSE worker caught with a bag of cannabis had planned to share it with his friends, a court heard.
Mujeeb Shittu (25) was going to meet a friend when he was stopped and searched by gardai.
Judge John Brennan applied the probation act, saying he hoped Shittu had learnt his lesson.
The defendant, with an address at Bremore Castle in Balbriggan, admitted to possession of cannabis as well as having the drug for sale or supply.
Garda Ultan McElroy told Swords District Court that gardai were on mobile patrol on May 8, 2020 when they came across two men who were acting suspiciously.
Gda McElroy said Shittu was taken to Balbriggan garda station where he was searched, and cannabis with a street value of €400 was found.
Defence solicitor Fiona D’Arcy said Shittu was not selling the drug on the streets, but had it to share with a few of his friends.
Ms D’Arcy said Shittu was now working, had not come to garda attention since this incident, and was no longer taking cannabis.
She asked the judge to be lenient, saying Shittu was very concerned about his liberty, and had turned his life around since this incident.
