The family said Kate, 35, and Vincent, seven-months-old died “peacefully at home” on October 8.

A notice on RIP said: ” Predeceased by Kate’s Mum Margaret, brother Paul and Vincent’s grandparents Tom and Eileen Connolly.

“Sadly missed by their loving families, Vincent’s Dad Tom, aunts Ann-Marie and Louise, uncle Paul, cousins Jonathan, Ross, Cian and Dylan, Kate’s Dad and Vincent’s grandfather John, Catherine, sister and aunt Niamh, nephews and niece Ben, Ana and Jay, Kate’s aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.”

A private family funeral will take place on Friday.

The family added: “Messages of sympathy and condolences for the family may be left by selecting “Condolences” below or alternatively at http://www.cunninghamsfunerals.com. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to the St. Vincent De Paul in memory of Kate and Vincent.”

Tributes poured in for the mother and son below the RIP.ie notice.

One person said: “Kate I cannot get you out of my thoughts since I heard the awful news about you and your darling Vincent.

“You were so helpful to us when we adopted our hound Lucas. You were one of the most caring kindest loving people I have ever met. I wish you perfect peace with your beloved Vincent .”

Another said: “She was so incredibly kind and helpful to me. I really respected her kindness to animals and people. She was so much fun.

“Her outfits used to make me smile. She was an amazing lady, my heart goes out to you all.”

Investigating gardai believe baby Vincent was poisoned by mother Kate, 35, before she took her own life.

Gardai have confirmed they aren’t looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and have classified the discovery of the bodies as a “family tragedy”.

One source told the Irish Sun: “This is a very sad case for everyone concerned.

“Gardai will now try and establish the reasons behind someone poisoning a child.”

Meath Dog Shelter, where Kate volunteered, paid tribute to the mother and son.

They said: “We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the loss of Kate and her son.

“Kate volunteered her services to any dog that needed help anywhere in Ireland. She often groomed dogs for us that were badly in need and helped us to find homes for dogs too.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, her friends and those in the community affected by her passing.
