Man (40s) arrested after gardaí seize cocaine worth €92,000 in Dublin following chase

A man in his 40s has been arrested after gardaí seized cocaine worth €92,000 in Dublin on Sunday.
The man was spotted acting suspiciously by gardaí on Sunday evening at 5.30pm in the Hampton Wood area of Finglas.
He fled on foot when approached by gardaí from the Santry Divisional Task Force but was apprehended and arrested a short distance away and taken to Ballymun garda station.
The man was found to be in possession of a large tube containing cocaine worth €70,000 and more cocaine, worth around €8,120, was found in a small vacuum packed bag. These were seized along with a digital weighing scales.
Gardaí later conducted a follow-up search of an apartment in the Balcurris Park East area of Ballymun where approximately €14,000 of cocaine was also seized.
The total estimated value of the cocaine seized is €92,120. All of the drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The man in his 40s is still being detained at Ballymun station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
