Man accused of stealing €20,000 car sent forward for jury trial

A Dublin man accused of stealing a convertible car worth €20,000 has been sent forward for jury trial.
Killian McKay (45) was served with the book of evidence when he appeared on bail before Swords District Court.
The accused, with an address at Seaesta, Bawn Road in Rush, is charged with stealing a Mercedes SL convertible, worth €20,000, at Sarsfield Motors, Cunningham Road, Dublin 8, on a date between December 1, 2018 and February 1, 2019.
He is further accused of taking possession of a vehicle without the consent of the owner at the same time and place, and dishonestly by deception deceiving a named person into returning a vehicle to him without the permission or knowledge of the car owner.
A state solicitor said the book of evidence was ready and had been served on the accused, who goes forward to the present sittings of Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Dermot Dempsey gave the accused the formal alibi caution. The judge also ordered that a video copy of an interview which gardaí conducted with the accused be furnished to his legal team.
Mr McKay has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
