The non-fiction book focuses on sexuality and being gay, bisexual, transgender and more in an open and frank manner.

The book was included on the HSE’s resources list for the junior cert when children are aged from 12 and up.

The book’s place on the list caused controversy due to some of the material included such as talk about phone apps being used for casual sex.

He said: “The book which provides detailed advice on anal sex, oral sex, sexual positions, sexting and using ‘sex apps’ for casual sex was included as a reading material for 12-15 year olds on the Junior Cycle.”

Deputy Toibin continued: “We hear today that after considerable campaigning by parents that the book is to withdrawn from the Junior Cycle Reading list.

“This is a victory for parents and children.
