An independent inquiry into links between gardaí, the Garda Ombudsman and Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch is currently unlikely, it is understood.

Justice Minister Simon Harris is awaiting the outcome of a Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) internal review into claims a now-resigned investigator attended a party celebrating the acquittal of Mr Hutch last week.
