THE inside story of Ireland’s deadliest crime family will be laid bare in a new podcast from The Irish Sun.
Hosted by veteran journalist Damien Lane, The Kinahans delves into the organised crime gang’s 40-year history of violence and mayhem.

The nine-part series, which launches Wednesday, tells of gang patriarch Christy Kinahan’s rise from low-level fraudster to leader of one of Europe’s biggest organised crime gangs.
Senior Gardai give exclusive insights into the inner workings of the cartel, now led by Christy’s son Daniel, with former assistant commissioners Michael O’Sullivan and John O’Driscoll talking about their encounters with the gang.
Former crime journalist Damien also hears from victims of the Kinahans’ deadly exploits, with community activists and politicians giving their take on the cartel.
Stephen Breen, The Irish Sun’s Crime Editor, outlines the fateful series of events that led to The Regency Hotel murder of Kinahan cartel thug David Byrne in 2016.

Byrne’s killing fuelled Ireland’s bloodiest ever gangland feud between the Hutch and Kinahan gangs, which resulted in the deaths of 18 people.
The podcast also features an interview with Noeleen Barr, sister of Michael Barr who was murdered in 2016.
Following on from the success of The Irish Sun’s hit 2021 podcast The Making Of A Detective, The Kinahans aims to predict what might come next for mob boss Daniel Kinahan and his cronies as they continue to evade the US’ DEA, An Garda Siochana, Interpol and a number of other police services globally.
The series culminates in an episode entitled ‘The Irish Gangland Trial of the Century’, in which The Irish Sun’s Senior News Reporter Michael Doyle gives a first-hand account of the trial of Gerry Hutch, who was cleared of Byrne’s murder.
Kieran McDaid, Editor of The Irish Sun, said: “Everyone knows of the Kinahan cartel, but this podcast reveals and dissects their ascent to the top of Irish gangland.”
The Kinahans premieres Wednesday on Spotify, Apple and all other popular podcast platforms, with one episode released weekly.
