Man suspected of brutal attack on young woman in Dublin arrested by Gardai as DPP to decide if he should face charges

A MAN suspected of a brutal attack on a young woman in Dublin has been arrested by Gardai.

Investigators from Sundrive Road Garda station in Crumlin had been searching for the suspect since February after he was accused of the barbaric assault.

The suspect has been linked to other crimes in the Crumlin area and is a close associate of a former member of Martin ‘The General’ Cahill’s mob.

He was arrested in the south of the city two days ago by a specialist Garda task force operating in the capital on other matters.

But he was then rearrested yesterday by detectives investigating February’s assault.

The Director of Public Prosecutions will now decide if he should face charges regarding his suspected role in the incident.

The woman was known to the suspect and suffered serious injuries when she was attacked.

One source said: “Gardai had been looking for this individual for the last number of months.

“He’s suspected of a brutal assault and had been on the run since February.

“If he is charged over the incident he could face a number of very serious charges.
