Man (40s) in critical condition after suspected shooting in Cork

A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after a suspected shooting in the early hours of this morning in Cork City.

The man was taken to Cork University Hospital shortly after 5am to be treated for gunshot wounds.

The man is currently undergoing surgery and is said to be in a critical but stable condition.

The incident took place during an incident on the Glasheen Rd Cork.

Gardaí are now appealing to any persons who were in the Wilton area of Cork City between 5am and 5:45am this morning and who may have noticed anything unusual ton contact investigating Gardaí.

Any road users with camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
