Man escapes serious injury in botched Dublin gun attack

Detectives are investigating a suspected botched shooting in south Dublin this evening.
It is understood a man, aged in his 20s, was shot at up to four times but escaped serious injury.
The gun attack happened near the Cloonmore area of Tallaght after 7.30pm this evening.
Gardaí are probing if a BMW car was used to bring the gunman to and from the scene.
Investigators are currently carrying out examinations of the area, which has been sealed off, and inquiries are ongoing.
Members of the Armed Support Unit (ASU) also responded to the scene following reports of the attempted shooting.
It is understood that the target of the gun attack is known to local gardaí for involvement in criminality and has been targeted in the past.
It is also being investigated whether the shooting is linked to the firebombing of a house in Tallaght recently.
A garda spokeswoman said: “Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating all the circumstances in relation to the discharge of a firearm on Jobstown Road, Tallaght, this evening Tuesday 16th May, 2023 at approximately7.30p.m.
“No persons have been reported injured, at this time.
“Investigations ongoing.”
