An Garda Síochána admitted a member of the force appeared at a press conference while awaiting the result of a Covid-19 test – which later returned positive.
The press conference on the case of JoJo Dullard, who has been missing since 1995, took place indoors at St Conleth’s Hall, Newbridge, Co Kildare, at 11am yesterday.
Members of the media were later informed they may have been in contact with a confirmed positive case of the virus.
In response to questions about why the garda was not following public health guidelines and self-isolating, a statement said an inquiry was being launched.
“All members of An Garda Síochána are expected to fully comply with HSE guidelines,” the statement said: “An Garda Síochána will carry out an inquiry into the circumstances of their attendance at the media briefing.”
It added it would not be providing commentary “on the individual status of any members of An Garda Síochána or individual garda stations/sections”.
