Off-duty garda arrested after failing breath test following crash

An off-duty garda has been arrested after failing a roadside breath test for alcohol after crashing a car in Cork city.

Gardaí attended the scene of a collision between a car and van at the Silver Springs Hotel in the city shortly after 5.30am on Saturday morning.

The off-duty garda was breathalysed at the scene before being taken to Guranabraher Garda Station.

The garda has since been released without charged.

The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries at Cork University Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
