Three police officers shot dead during domestic disturbance call in France
Three police officers were shot dead during after they responded to a call to a home in France, authorities have confirmed.
Reports suggest that the officers were called to a domestic disturbance in Puy-de-Dome in central France when they were gunned down.
It’s understood the officers were attempting to get a woman out of the property when they were shot by a man.
The shooting began shortly after midnight as two officers went to the home and were targeted by gunfire.
One of those officers was killed, while another was seriously wounded, before the gunman set fire to the house at which police were visiting.
Two extra police officers rushed to the scene to assist the first two officers, but they too were fired at and killed, according to a source in the Clermont-Ferrand prosecutor’s office.
The source told AFP: ‘The greatest precautions are being taken with regard to the dangerousness of the individual.’
The situation is underway as it would appear that police do not have the gunman in custody, but firefighters and tactical police are now on the scene.
Police are understood to have known the male suspect over previous charges related to child custody.
