Dealers are coming up with more ingenious ways to smuggle contraband into our country’s jails because of a ‘drug drought’ caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Caron McCaffrey, the director general of the Irish Prison Service (IPS), outlined the new trends in an exclusive interview with the Irish Independent. She also spoke of her concerns at the “significant risk” caused by the increasing amount of mentally ill prisoners housed in our Jails.
