Specialist detectives were last night quizzing a 22-year-old bank employee who they think may be the “inside man” for a €1.1m invoice redirect fraud targeting a Dublin-based solicitor and Irish company.
Officers from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) have retrieved most of the cash which was stolen from the solicitor as part of a massive investigation.
The young man at the centre of the Garda probe was arrested in the Lucan, Co Dublin, area yesterday and was being quizzed by fraud squad officers last night at Clondalkin garda station.
