Over €141,000 worth of drugs seized in Dublin, Athlone

Over €141,000 worth of drugs have been seized by Revenue officers in separate seizures at mail centres in Dublin and Athlone.

Earlier today, officers at the Dublin mail centre seized more than 4kg of herbal cannabis, as well as 27g of cannabis oil and butane honey oil products.

The drugs were found in parcels originating from the US, Canada and Spain, and had a combined estimated value of around €88,200.

They had been declared as ‘art supplies’, ‘coffee pods’, ‘action figures’ and ‘toys’, and were destined for various address throughout Ireland.

Separately, Revenue officers at the Athlone mail centre seized nearly 7kg of illegal drugs and psychoactive substances, including herbal cannabis, cannabis resin, hash cakes, benzodiazepines and cannabis infused ‘jellies’ and ‘chocolates’.

They were discovered in packets originating from the UK, and were worth an estimated €53,500.

They had been were declared as items such as ‘hair bows’, ‘football memorabilia’ and ‘photos’.

The seizures were made with the assistance of detector dogs operating in each centre – both named ‘Bailey’
