Gardai said that the man who was arrested before the start of the protest was a street performer who was in breach of COVID-19 regulations.
They made it clear that this arrest was not connected to the planned demonstration on the same street.
A Garda spokesperson said: ‘Gardaí arrested a man in the Patrick Street area of Cork earlier today, 06/03/2021, for breaches of the Health Act 1947, as amended. https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1368173262023327746&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fextra.ie%2F2021%2F03%2F06%2Fnews%2Firish-news%2Fman-arrested-cork-anti-lockdown&theme=light&widgetsVersion=e1ffbdb%3A1614796141937&width=550px

‘The male is currently detained at Anglesea Street Garda Station
