It comes as Independent Limerick City West councillor Elisa O’Donovan shared, on Twitter at the weekend, a screenshot of a WhatsApp message sent to her.

She branded the picture ‘incredibly intrusive’ and said she had reported the incident to gardaí.

The situation escalated and the man started sending her pornographic pictures and videos.
She noted that councillors’ addresses and phone numbers are usually available online. This led to concerns about whether or not the man knew where she lived.
Her comments come just days after former Labour senator Lorraine Higgins told RTÉ’s Brendan O’Connor she decided to leave politics due to constant abuse.
