Teenager stabbed multiple times in house while dog-sitting

An 18-year-old man was stabbed multiple times after a gang stormed a house where he was dog-sitting in Cork on Tuesday night.

The incident, which occurred on John Redmond Street in the city at approximately 9pm, saw a gang of men storm the house where the victim was, before stabbing him in a targeted attack.

The alarm was raised shortly following the stabbing, and the victim was brought to Cork University Hospital, where he continues to receive treatment. His injuries are deemed to be non-life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at the time of writing, and Gardaí are asking anyone with information to come forward.

‘On arrival at the scene, a male aged in his late teens was discovered with apparent stab wounds. He was taken from the scene by ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment’.

‘The scene is preserved for forensic examination and enquires are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time’, the statement continued. ‘Anyone with information is asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station 021 455 8510’.

It is understood that the two dogs that the victim was minding have also gone missing following the attack. However, a puppy remains missing following the attack. It is not known if the puppy ran away following the attack, or if she was taken by the gang.

The owner of the two dogs, who had no involvement in the dispute leading up to the attack, has made an appeal to try and get the puppy back. Anyone with information surrounding the attack or the dog’s whereabouts are asked to contact Gardaí in Mayfield on 021 455 8510.
