Opportunities: 1920’s 1930’s Michael Comyn KC & Ben Briscoe thought they had found gold in Avoca, Co. Wicklow. It was not as commercial as they had anticipated. Now: that sought after mineral called Lithium found in rare places throughout the world has resulted in the Chinese coming to Co. Wicklow bordering Carlow. Lithium is what you find in batteries and what is now needed for our electric cars. It is quite an irony that fossil fuels come from the ground and are deemed to pollute but then so does lithium, cobalt, coltan, titanium and so much more that is needed for our digitalised age.

Replying to @zeltape and @TheOmniLiberalAre you referring to GanFeng Lithium’s (China’s biggest lithium miner) the under the radar Avalonia mining project, along counties Carlow and Wicklow, on Coillte-owned land? An environmental disaster in the making, which curiously faced no political headwinds / no media scrutiny.
