Gardaí hunt gang that savagely beat up boy, 11, in west Dublin
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a gang of youths savagely beat a young boy in west Dublin.
Ben O’Connor, 11, was with a number of friends near the skatepark in Ballyfermot when he went to use the toilet facilities at the leisure centre, metres away.
But as he was leaving the premises at about 6.50pm, a group of up to seven teenagers called the child over. According to his mother, Leah, Ben ignored them but was then grabbed and carried to a dark location out of public sight.© Provided by Extra.ie Gardaí have launched an investigation after a gang of youths savagely beat a young boy in west Dublin. The older boys then proceeded to launch a torrent of punches and kicks to the child even when he fell to the ground.
The perpetrators then recorded the injuries they inflicted on their phones before fleeing, leaving the 11-year-old covered in blood.
Another boy then informed Ben’s mother what had happened.© Provided by Extra.ie The boy was taken to Temple Street Hospital. Pic: Sam Boal/RollingNews.ie
Gardaí were called and he was taken to Temple Street Hospital.
Ms O’Connor highlighted the attack on social media: ‘My 11-year-old son was dragged away from his friends and attacked… my child had his face stamped on numerous times by what looked like 15/16-year-olds… All in black… masks on.’
Gardaí confirmed an investigation is ongoing and a spokesman said: ‘Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault which took place in the Ballyfermot area on Friday, February 11 at approximately 6.50pm.’
