Ireland 1840, another Famine. However we forget there were famines in Europe also. Russia invaded Ukraine (Breadbasket of Europe/Russia) on 24th February 2022. 1.5 mn people and rising are escaping to neighbouring countries with nothing but the clothes on their backs, their children leaving behind their husbands/men to do the fighting with the Russian invaders. Uncertainty is what lies ahead. Russia is the number one supplier of wheat while Ukraine is the number four; this is about food. Energy and warmth, transport and so much more is entangled in the gas/oil supplies which come from both countries. What can we learn from this painting? Source: Stair na hEireann.
