I have just published my first class Master’s thesis “Policing the Police: Police Accountability in Ireland” as my contribution to the 100th anniversary of An Garda Siochana. The 25,000 word thesis supervised at UCC by Prof. Shane Kilcommins, now head of law at UL, considers in four chapters: The creation of AGS at the commencement of the State, various miscarriages of justice including The Kerry Babies Case, The Sallins Train Robbery, the Donegal McBreaty Case and the formation of the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.
