We’re all looking forward to the day Catriona Carey is arrested, says fireman who lost €15k to suspected fraudster

A VICTIM of suspected fraudster Catriona Carey is hoping the former hockey star will soon be arrested by Gardai.

Firefighter Andrew Hickey – who lost a €15,000 deposit to Carey in an allege mortgage scam – made the claim after detectives stepped up their investigation into the alleged scammer’s “elaborate” mortgage racket.

Officers from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau swooped on a property in Co Wexford on Wednesday and seized the disgraced businesswoman’s BMW.

But they also recovered documents detailing her financial transactions, bank statements and other details of business practices.

Gardai will also now examine her mobile devices to identify her exchanges with 18 people who have made complaints to Gardai.

The Irish Sun can also reveal her luxury car – which she paid for through her company accounts – was seized because she had been disqualified from driving.

Mr Hickey said: “A lot of us are wondering why she hasn’t been arrested and we’re all looking forward to that day.

“People are under immense stress and yet she’s still going around living her life.

“Detectives in Carlow have already done fantastic work on the case and it’s great to see more people coming forward.

“People just want to see justice and that means Catriona Carey and anyone connected to this scam being brought before a court.”
