A Penneys store in an Irish shopping centre reportedly had to close early on Wednesday afternoon after two women got into a violent row.
The public order incident broke out in the shop at Longford Shopping Centre in Longford town at around 4pm.
Gardai were called to the scene and two women were subsequently arrested.
It is understood shoppers looked on in horror while the assault took place and the shop was forced to close early in response.
The two women are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Longford Garda station.
Gardai say their investigations are ongoing.
