A PLASTERER caught with heroin in his hand, tablets in his pocket and crack cocaine in his shoe has been spared jail for drugs offences.
Jason Cassidy (35) was given a five-month suspended sentence at Blanchardstown District Court.
Cassidy, of Magheracar Cottages, Bundoran, Co Donegal, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs on August 15, 2018.
A garda sergeant told Judge Gerard Jones that Cassidy was seen among three men in an area known for drug dealing at the Clonburris fields, Clondalkin, on the day.
When gardaí approached, the three ran in the direction of Fonthill train station.
The accused was stopped and searched, and had four deals of heroin worth €952 in his right hand.
A single deal of crack cocaine worth €50 was found in his shoe, and two trays of diazepam tablets were in his jeans pocket.
Cassidy had previous convictions. The accused found himself in a “rather unfortunate situation” but had now put all that behind him, his solicitor Wayne Kenny said.
The judge suspended the sentence for two years and warned: “He can come with his bags packed if he reoffends in the meantime.”
